| Falcons interested in adding Channing Crowder
The Dolphins released Crowder on the second day of camp last year and instead of joining another team, he went and joined his wife, who was 37 weeks pregnant and unable to travel. Now he wants to get back into the NFL and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Atlanta Falcons are interested in signing the Georgia native and having him play for the man who used to be his defensive coordinator in Miami, Mike Nolan. "I'd love to play in Atlanta," the 28-year-old Crowder said, according to the Journal-Constitution. "Coach Nolan is my guy. Actually, when he got the job in Atlanta he [sent] me a text…. When I got released, he texted me back then and said that 'it was great to coach you.'" That kind of niceness may now pay off for the Falcons. In his career with the Dolphins, Crowder appeared in 82 games, had 345 solo tackles, was involved with 2.5 sacks, and pulled in one interception.

| Patriots’ Gronkowski claims ankle wasn’t a problem
"I was fine, my ankle was fine," Gronkowski said afterward, according to the Boston Herald. "I was 100 percent out there. I did everything they asked me to do." Gronkowski also told reporters that he had no plans for surgery for the supposedly 100% ankle: "I just need to get some treatment in the offseason and I will be good to go," he said, the Herald reports. Wide receiver Deion Branch appreciated Gronkowski's efforts: "I promise you 75 percent of the players in the NFL wouldn't have played, and this guy gutted it out for the team, and I truly appreciate him for it," Branch said, the Herald reports. | Colts bringing Jeff Saturday to the front office?
Now the Colts are offering him a spot in the front-office and another team "has floated the idea of Saturday joining its front office," ESPN reports. However, the site notes that Saturday "still has an interest in playing" and that one NFL scout has it that Saturday could find work if he wanted to continue. Let the rumors come to you. | NFL considering addition of two teams
It's also been rumored that if no team wants to go to the City of Angels, the NFL could just start a new team in town. Now word comes from CBSSports.com that if the league adds a new team in L.A., it will likely also add another team somewhere else in order to keep things balanced. Commissioner Roger Goodell said Thursday that the league "doesn't want to move any of our teams" and "we probably don't want to go to 33" if the NFL decides expansion is a good choice. Goodell may not have meant to do it, but now other cities will likely start pitching the league on how they would be the best choice for that second team if and when the NFL finally makes that decision. | Peyton Manning and Colts meeting next week
The Indianapolis Star reports that Manning and the team "are expected to meet next week to discuss Manning's future with the team." However, owner Jim Irsay said that the final decision "probably will go into early March" since "it's a serious medical thing." The Star notes that Manning "has been going through strenuous throwing sessions, most recently Tuesday at the Colts' complex and Thursday at an undisclosed location." Manning also made it known this week that he has no plans to retire. Whether the Colts let him go or not, Manning surely will want to show the NFL that he's still got a lot left to offer. In the meantime, he gets to watch his brother, Eli Manning, see if he can win a second Super Bowl against the New England Patriots.

| Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw practices despite foot pain
He wasn't expected to practice with the team Wednesday so coach Tom Coughllin was surprised to see Bradshaw out on the field at practice, according to NFC pool reporter Peter King. Bradshaw told trainer Ronnie Barnes that he wanted to be in on the first practice of Super Bowl week, King repots. "I just hope he's OK tomorrow,'' said Coughlin, according to King. "For the average person who stubbed their toe on the bed, he feels that way all day long," Giants running backs coach Jerald Ingram said, the Post notes. The 25-year-old Bradshaw rushed for 659 yards and nine touchdowns this season, though he hasn't scored yet this postseason. Let the rumors come to you. Follow Scoop du Jour on Twitter or Facebook. |
| Donovan McNabb has three teams targeted for return
McNabb isn't ready to hang up his helmet, though. The 35-year-old six-time Pro Bowler has his eye on three different NFL teams that he thinks could use his services, according to NFL.com. "I see three teams in the NFL, right now, that I feel like I can add a little bit of flavor to it from what they have," McNabb said, according to the site. "I won't mention those teams. But, if the phone rings, there will be a lot of decisions to make on that." In his six games with the Vikes last year, the Chicago native threw 156 passes and connected on 94 of them for 1,025 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran the ball 14 times for 59 yards and another touchdown. However, he also threw two interceptions and fumbled the ball twice as well.

| Channing Crowder returning but not to Dolphins
Now, fully rested after a season without a team, the 28-year-old is looking to get back into the NFL and will talk to any team but the Dolphins, according to NFL.com. "I wouldn't go on a team with [Dolphins GM] Jeff Ireland," Crowder said, according to the site. "I'm not very confident in him. He doesn't know what he's doing in my opinion. He's real disrespectful, he doesn't know how to deal with people, and the whole Dez Bryant [situation] kind of showed to the world what he's about." Bryant, of course, was the guy that Ireland asked if his mother had been a prostitute, which Ireland apologized for later. Crowder went on to say that he wouldn't choose to return to Miami, the site notes. "I would have to say it's the only team I don't want to play for," he said, NFL.com reports. In his final season with the Fins, Crowder played in 11 games and had 39 tackles. Don't forget to follow Scoop du Jour on Twitter or Facebook. |

"Ray and Joe Flacco will be part of this football team next year, guaranteed," Bisciotti said Wednesday, according to the Baltimore Sun. The team is planning to try and sign them both to extensions this offseason, the paper reports. Rice, who had 1,364 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns last season, will be given the franchise tag if an extension can't be worked out with him, according to the Sun. "Ray is an unrestricted free agent, and, obviously, the franchise [tag] has to come into play," Bisciotti said, the Sun reports. "With Joe, it doesn't. We're just going to sit down and start grinding out the contract terms." Let the rumors come to you. Follow Scoop du Jour on Twitter or Facebook. |
